Join us for a two-hour pottery wheel class designed for beginners, couples looking for a unique date night experience, or experienced potters seeking more wheel time. This class is a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics of wheel throwing and create your very own ceramic masterpiece.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Introduction to the Wheel
Class will begin with an introduction to the pottery wheel, clay, and basic techniques. No prior experience is necessary; our class is tailored for beginners while still offering experienced potters dedicated time on the wheel.
Hands-On Experience
You'll work directly at your own wheel wheel, learning how to center, shape, and control the clay while our instructor guides you through the process of creating your own piece of pottery.
Create Your Piece
Each artist is guaranteed ONE piece of pottery on the wheel during the class. Artists are welcome to make additional pieces throughout the evening and then choose the best one for their final project to be fired. Artists may choose to purchase additional pieces.
Finishing & Firing
After shaping your pottery, your pieces will remain at CURIO to dry completely before firing. This process takes approximately 3–4 weeks. You will not take your pottery home on the day of class.
Glazing & Firing
Once your piece has been fired, you'll be notified to comeback to CURIO anytime during our regular studio hours to glaze it. Choose from our glaze options and add the finishing touches to your pottery with guidance from our team. It's two creative experiences in one; make your piece on the wheel, then come back and make it your own with color.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
- Expert Instruction: Our experienced pottery instructor will guide you through the process, from centering the clay to shaping your piece.
- Clay: Use an unlimited amount of clay to practice during class. Each artist is guaranteed one 1.5 lb. finished project.
- Tools & Materials: We provide all the necessary tools and materials for your pottery experience.
- Finished Piece: Each artist is guaranteed one piece of pottery to fire and glaze.
PARENTS & GUARDIANS
This class is designed for artists ages 13+. Parents and guardians do not need to stay unless they are participating in the class.

Skill Level: Beginner-friendly; experienced potters welcome
Materials: Clay, tools, aprons, and towels provided
Finished Work: One 1.5 lb. piece guaranteed per artist
PLEASE NOTE: Our Clay Cave is located in the basement. All participants must be able to safely walk up and down stairs to participate in this class.
WHAT TO WEAR: Dress comfortably in clothing that you don't mind getting clay on. Aprons and towels will be provided. *Dresses and skirts should be avoided.*
CANCELLATION POLICY
All class tickets are nonrefundable. If you or your artist is unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer their spot to a friend or family member.
Due to limited seats, supplies, and instructor commitments, tickets cannot be transferred to another class.
Classes require a minimum of 4 artists to run. If CURIO must cancel a class, including due to low enrollment or instructor illness, participants may choose to transfer to another available class, receive a CURIO digital gift card, or receive a refund.
We do our best to avoid cancellations and will always communicate with families as soon as possible if a change is necessary.
